Press Release - Green Reef Environmental Institute and Hol Chan Marine Reserve are proud to announce Reef Week. This spectacular event will begin on Thursday, May 29th and close with the 7th Annual San Pedro Reef Festival on Sunday, June 1st. The theme of Reef Week 2003 is: "Spirit of the Sea".

    In conjunction with World Environment Day, Reef Week will boast presentations on marine ecology, marine conservation and marine wildlife to the community, visitors and island school students. Activities will include a reef cleanup and the ever-spectacular Reef Festival. The Reef Festival will be celebrated on June 1st at the Boca Del Rio Park from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. There will be boat rides and games, food and fun, music and dancing, plus a touch tank and T-shirts for the kids.  

    Green Reef is inviting all of San Pedro's schools to participate in this year's Reef Festival contests. Hol Chan Marine Reserve is sponsoring a Reef Festival display contest and also a poster contest. There will be prizes awarded to the top three displays and to the top three posters that best illustrate this year's Reef Festival theme. In addition, the winning posters may be part of a nationally distributed poster promoting Hol Chan Marine Reserve and reef conservation.
