The Belize Tourism
Board (BTB) is currently accepting nominations for the 2003 National
Tourism Awards. These awards, first given by the BTB in 2000, were
created to honor excellence in the tourism industry. The official
presentation of the awards is scheduled for early November.
Representatives of the tourism industry as well as the general public are
asked to select those individuals, properties or organizations that they
believe have made beneficial changes to, or positively impacted, Belize's
tourism industry. The deadline for submissions is October
16th, 2003.
The BTB is seeking nominations for the National
Tourism Awards in ten different categories: Front Line Person of the
Year, Hotel of the Year, Tour Operator of the Year, Tour Guide of the
Year, Receptive Service of the Year, Environmental Organization of the
Year, Educational Organization of the Year and Corporate Organization of
the Year. The BTB selection committee will choose the Lifetime
Achievement Award and Minister of Tourism, Honorable Mark Espat will
choose the recipient of the Minister's Award.
Past SP winners of the National Tourism Awards are:
Owner Celi McCorkle of SP Holiday Hotel - Minister's Award 2000, Billy
Leslie - Tour Guide of the Year 2001, Ramon's Village Resort - Hotel of
the Year 2002, and Tropic Air ñ Receptive Service of the Year 2002.
Nominations must be received at the Belize Tourism
Board by October 16 th,
2003 in order to commence the processing of the nomination forms and the
naming of the recipient. The National Tourism Awards 2003 nomination
