For the third
straight week, the San Pedro SeaHawks have come away with the win,
catapulting them into the top four teams in the Regent Insurance Cup 2004
Championship.
In Week 7, the SeaHawks lost to Sagitun 2-1 with
Orlando Pinelo scoring the only goal. During Week 8 though, the island
team came alive with a win over Juventus 2-1, courtesy of goals scored by
Marco Izepy and Rudolph Flowers. Maintaining this momentum, Week 9 found
the team facing the newest Corozal team, the Calcutta Bulls, which they
easily defeated with a 3-1 win, thanks to goals from Rudolph Flowers,
Jarbi Alvarez and Anthony Gonzalez.
Last weekend, the
10th week of
the competition,
the SeaHawks overcame one of their biggest challenges in a showdown with
Kulture Yabra. Although very defensive throughout the first half of the
match, Flavio PiÒeiro's two goals in the
52nd and
74th minutes turned
the game into a bitter defeat for the Belize City team as San Pedro ended
up shutting them out, 2-0. Moreover, this victory also moved the SeaHawks
into the 2nd place
spot in the Belize Premier Football League (BPFL)!
The scoring was all one-sided as well in the other
Week 10 BPFL matches. Juventus shut out Builder's Hardware Bandits (2-0),
and Griga United embarrassed Sagitun (2-0).
