,
twenty-three-year-old Patricia "Patty" Verde officially assumed the
position of San Pedro Town Administrator. Following five weeks of
training, Ms. Verde has exceeded her employers' and trainer's
expectations, who confirmed she is now ready to take over the reigns on
this exciting challenge.
The daughter of Pinita and Franciso Verde of San Pedro
Town, Patty excelled in all of her studies from elementary to tertiary
level education. Following her graduation from St. Catherine's Academy,
Miss Verde enrolled at St. John's College Junior College, where she
attained an Associate's Degree in Business Science in 1999. Miss
Verde received a Master's Degree in Business Administration as well
from the University of Belize in 2001.
Prior to applying for the Town Administrator's post,
Patty Verde worked at Varela's Construction Supplies. She began as the
company bookkeeper and soon after assumed other responsibilities, gaining
her a promotion to General Administrator. Miss Verde performed these
duties with much pride for three years.
Patty Verde told The San
Pedro Sun that she saw the Town Administrator's position
as a challenge and as an opportunity for her to grow, professionally.
When asked for her views on this new post, Miss Verde stated, "I have
confidence in myself; I have never questioned my capabilities and I am
never afraid of a challenge. I don't feel as if I have a blindfold when
it comes to this job. I am ready and willing. Before, I was the
manager/administrator of a business, now I am the manager/administrator
of a town."
