SP Lions President-elect Nita Marin
|
A very hard working and active member of the San Pedro Lions Club, Mrs.
Nita Marin has recently agreed to accept the responsibilities
associated with serving as president of this organization for the
upcoming fiscal year 2004-2005.
Lion Nita Marin will be the second woman to hold this position, since
the inception of women members into the Lions Club. Lion Marin joined
the Lionistic Family eight years ago. Since her installation, she has
been instrumental in helping to bring back a strong sense of service to
this organization. Lion Nita Marin has lived up to the Lion's motto
of "We Serve" and has displayed much fervor, working tirelessly amongst
her fellow members. She has been an avid team player when it comes to
organizing countless Lions fundraisers, work-a-thons and social
functions. Previous to accepting the post of president, Lion Nita sat
on the Board of Directors as Tail Twister, Advisor, 2nd Vice President,
1st Vice President, and now has accepted the position of President. She
has also headed many of the Club's sub-committees, most recently as the
San Pedro Lions Convention Chairperson.
Since the birth of Lionism in San Pedro 28 years ago, and prior to
joining the Club as a Lion member, Nita Marin served as an auxiliary
and worked hand-in-hand with her husband, Lion Edilberto "Beto" Marin.
Throughout the years, she has attended numerous local conventions and
has also attended Conventions of Distrito "D" Istmania in El Salvador,
Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica and Panama. Lion Nita Marin
has also attended Lions International Conventions in Miami, New Orleans
and Indianapolis in the USA, as well as Merida and Oaxaca in Mexico.
Lion Nita Marin will officially assume her new post in July 2004. Upon
taking office, Lion Nita says that her top priorities will include
regaining and soliciting more active members to work hand-in-hand on
projects, renovating Mosquito Coast Park to a first-class family-picnic
spot, and continuing the hospital project, among other things.
Lion Abel Guerrero Sr., "Treasurer for Life," will once again take care
of the finances for the Lions, while Lion Beto Marin has accepted the
post of secretary.
The San Pedro Sun joins the community and the members of the San Pedro
Lions Club in congratulating Lion Nita Marin in her newly chosen
endeavor and wishes her all the best for a successful year.
