Costa Maya "Feva" is here and tonight, the most-awaited event on Ambergris Caye, the 2004 International Costa Maya Festival comes to life at the Old Football Field. Kicking off the festivities will be the ever-glamorous Reina de la Costa Maya Pageant. Scheduled to commence at 8:00 p.m., this particular event will showcase representatives from the five Mundo Maya countries and Costa Rica, in swimsuit, cultural and evening wear, and feature a question and answer session. Co-hosting this affair will be Latin singer/actor Rafael Amaya and Mexican television personality Lilian Villanueva.

Rafael Amaya arrived in San Pedro on Monday, August 2nd, and was greeted by a multitude of ecstatic fans. The soap opera star very graciously took some time to sign autographs and have his picture taken with fans – much to their delight.

On Friday, August 6th the sexy and vivacious trio known as "Las Nuevas Mexicanas" will make their way to "La Isla Bonita." Everyone is invited to extend a warm welcome to these statuesque Mexican beauties when they arrive midday at the San Pedro Airstrip. This same invitation goes out to everyone to greet the headliner for this year’s festival – Pablo Montero. The Mexican superstar will arrive via Tropic Air on Saturday, August 7th at 11:30 a.m.

This year, as part of a cultural exchange arranged by the Mexican Embassy, Moctezuma, a well-known Mexican brewery will provide refreshing and delicious Mexican beers during the festival – yet another great reason to attend this year’s event.

The weekend schedule of events include: Friday, August 6th – colorful and rhythmic presentations by a Marimba Band, Grupo Folklorico Chachaclun of Guatemala, Grupo de Danza Identidades of El Salvador, DNA Trio from San Pedro Town, Banda Ibanes of Honduras, as well as a spectacular show by Las Nuevas Mexicanas. Saturday, August 7th – International Night. Performers for this evening will include the San Pedro Dance Company, Escuela de Danza de Quintana Roo, Marimba Band, Sabor Bahia musical band, and Pablo Montero accompanied by Mariachis from Mexico City. Sunday, August 8th – All-night jump-up with the "Tribals" High School Band, Sabor Bahia and cultural entertainment from Mexico.

Tickets for the festival are still available for: Season Passes – Adults - $85/Children $40. Day Passes – Adults - $20/Children $15. International Night Passes – Adults - $50/Children $20. Tickets can be purchased at Fantasy Garden Restaurant, Amigo Travel, Emerita Muñoz, Wally’s Electrical, Excalibur Tours, Rock’s Shopping Center, War Paint, Ambergris Store, Island Magic, Milo’s Store and Island Kids.

Have a safe and enjoyable Costa Maya Festival!
