Miss San Pedro 2004-2005 Roxanna Bradley
|
An ecstatic crowd cheered
with delight last Friday evening when contestant Roxanna Bradley was
announced as Miss San Pedro 2004-2005. Well-organized, this year's Miss
San Pedro Pageant drew a large crowd to the Old Football Field where five
lovely young ladies vied for the prestigious title.
Setting the pace for an evening of entertainment, were
the members of the San Pedro Dance Company with a presentation
appropriately entitled "La Isla Bonita." Adding zing and zest to the
evening were San Pedro's host and hostess extraordinaire – Eiden Salazar
Jr. and Wilema Alamilla Gonzalez.
The contestants made their first appearance in casual
wear as they introduced themselves to the audience. Following this stage
of the competition, it was the "Mini Barbies" of Barbara's Dance Group
who took center stage generating applause and laughter from the audience.
The Temptation Girls, another local dance group, also performed for the
pleasure of those attending. Miss San Pedro 2003-2004 Tatiana Rivero then
joined the delegates on stage in a special dance presentation entitled
"Hot, Hot, Hot." Following the swimsuit competition, glamour and glitter
filled the stage as the contestants paraded in their evening wear and
chit-chatted with the emcees prior to the question and answer session.
The contestants were then serenaded by two talented young men from San
Pedro High School, Jamir Gillett and Javier Romero.
The competition was indeed a very tough one as all of
the contestants proved to have "what it takes" to be the new Miss San
Pedro. At the end of the evening though, it was Roxanna Bradley,
sponsored by the Belize Bank, who stole the hearts of the audience and
the judges. Besides winning the title of Miss San Pedro, she was also
named Miss Photogenic. Sheena Paz was named first runner-up, while Eden
Velasquez was voted Miss Amity. The difficult task of selecting this
year's Miss San Pedro was in the capable hands of a distinguished panel
of judges consisting of Jenny Woods, Jan Brown, Melinda Escalante,
Alberto Villanueva Jr., and Jim Mathewson. Tabulating the judges scores
were Melanie Halliday, Ruben Gonzalez, and Darwin Williams.
Miss Roxanna Bradley will be officially
crowned at a special coronation ceremony to be held at Central Park on
Friday, September 10th
during the Battle of St. George's Caye Day celebrations. As the new Miss
San Pedro, Miss Bradley received a one-year scholarship for sixth form
(tuition only), courtesy of the San Pedro Town Council. She also received
a gold bracelet, a bicycle, a $100 savings account at St. Francis Xavier
Credit Union, a $100 savings account at Atlantic Bank Ltd., a $200
savings account at the Alliance Bank of Belize Ltd., $500 cash from
Atlantic International Bank, $150 cash from Southwind Properties, $100
cash from Belize Real Estate Ltd., a one-month membership at the San
Pedro Family Fitness Club, one CD player from Harmouch's Center, a gift
basket from Wine de Vine, a silver necklace from the Cottage Gift Shop, a

Mel Spain, a 20-minute phone call to the US from Caribbean Connection
Internet Café, and free unlimited Internet access for two months at
