The official tourism season has officially kicked off and many hotels, restaurants and businesses are already feeling the effects. In interviews with several hotels, many stated that rooms have been solidly booked through March and April. A few stated that these numbers were the best they have seen in three years.

According to Tropic Air's Reservation Manager Concha Nuñez, the busiest times for the airline are during December 26th – 28th. "During those three days we average 300 people per day between Belize International and San Pedro. The rest of the peak season we average about 100 passengers per day – that runs through late March or April," she commented.

Unfortunately, our gain has been due to the loss of others. Many other popular vacation sites were terribly devastated by the past hurricane season that agents moved their guests from those islands to Belize. Another reason as to the increase of our tourist influx has to do with the amount of television airtime Belize has been getting in international stations. Whatever the reasons; the 2004-2005 tourism season looks very promising!
