A very hard working and active member of the San Pedro Lions Club, Mrs. Isela Graniel has recently agreed to accept the responsibilities associated with serving as president of this organization for the upcoming fiscal year 2005-2006.

Lion Isela Graniel will be the third woman to hold this position, since the inception of women into the Lions Club. Lion Graniel joined the Lionistic Family eight years ago. Since her installation, she has been instrumental in helping to bring back the strong sense of service to this organization. Lion Isela Graniel has lived up to the Lion’s motto of “We Serve” and has displayed much fervor, working tirelessly amongst her fellow members. She has been an avid team player when it comes to organizing countless Lions fundraisers, work-a-thons and social functions. Previous to accepting the post of president, Lion Graniel sat on the Board of Directors as Secretary, has cooked and organized several functions and fundraisers taken on by the Club and now has accepted the position of President. “I love helping people and getting involved in different activities around the community. That is why I joined the Lions Club and I plan to keep doing that as President.”

Since the birth of Lionism in Belize 28 years ago, and prior to joining the Club as a Lions member, she has attended numerous local conventions and has also attended the Convention of Distrito “D” Istmania in El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica and just recently in Panama.

Lion Isela Graniel will officially assume her new post in July 2005. Upon taking office, Lion Graniel says that her top priorities will include to regain and solicit more active members to work hand-in-hand with projects, “We have seen a steady decline in active Lion members through the years and this is something that I plan to take head-on.” Among other things, Lion Graniel plans to instate a 24-hour service at the San Pedro Poly Clinic II.

The San Pedro Sun joins the community and the members of the San Pedro Lions Club in congratulating Lion Isela Graniel in her newly chosen endeavor and wishes her all the best for a successful year.
