Last Saturday, nine graduates proudly accepted their certificate acknowledging their computer accomplishment from Introcom Technologies, a three-part computer course. Carmen Lara, Socorro Rodriguez, Francisco Salguero, Marlon Castillo, Lynn Emmanuel, Deni Eiley, Bernabe Duran, Roberto Coh, and Sharon Gallego all received their diplomas for successfully completing either the beginner or intermediate courses at the applauded school.
During the ceremonies the graduates heard inspiring speeches from Clive Welch of the San Pedro Christian Radio Station who commended them for their achievement and stated that, “education is nothing without will,” and past graduate Mrs. Martha Guerrero. Mrs. Guerrero has been part of the San Pedro High School staff for years and commented, “Why at my age do I take part in these courses? I believe that the world is changing and you need to choose to either connect or chose to remain stagnant. […] Life has changed and we need to meet the demands of modern technologies with the knowledge of how to operate a computer. […] When I was your age there were no computers, but now I have become aware that not only has the world changed but so have I. I have worked for the San Pedro High School for the past 30 years and I can not use the same tools that I used before. […] Our old ways do not support our community, work or even our home.”
The graduates and invited guests were treated to a wonderful dinner to celebrate their accomplishment.
