San Pedro turns 21!

The Youth Cadet Corp delighted all with their firm moves and sharp clothing as they marched in the parade.


During the opening ceremonies, Mayor Elsa Paz commented, “Apart from the natural beauty that the Good Lord has bestowed on us, we have been blessed with very good citizens and good leaders that have been in the forefront throughout the growth of the island.” Joining Mayor Paz in the official ceremonies was Louis Sylvestre, the then Minister of Local Government who saw San Pedro officially declared a town. He stated, “San Pedro has grown so fast to become one of the most prominent towns on Belize. Seeing it grow has been great, please don’t stop development.”


The Kayak race was a big hit among all who participated. First place winner was Roy Dennis, second place was taken by Daniel Gregorio, while third was snagged by Jonathan Esquivel in the youth category. Special mentions and taking cash prizes for the youth category as well, were Shiana Lopez, Brandon Santos, Britney Gillett, and Siomara Valdez. For the 15-18 year category, winners were Ernest Arana, Deon Samuels, and Bradley Mazim. Congratulations!!!


Another great activity held for the Township festivities was the bicycle race. Winners of the race are as follows: Adrian Caliz, Jesse Guerrero and Salvador Tut. Congratulations!!!


A large gathering flocked to Central Park to enjoy the Township festivities.

San Pedro celebrated 21 years as a town on Sunday, November 27th, 2005 with a big soiree held at Central Park. The festivities began with a grand parade through the main streets of San Pedro Town. School children, the San Pedro High School Marching Band, Governor’s General Marching Band along with the Youth Cadet Corp paraded down the streets in celebration

   Throughout the day, several festivities were held at Central Park. Prior to the race a brief ceremony was held. Joining Mayor Elsa Paz and the councilors in the official ceremonies was Louis Sylvestre, the then Minister of Local Government who saw San Pedro officially declared a town.

   After the ceremonies concluded, everyone enjoyed a lovely afternoon under the sun. Kayak races and a bike race along with dance presentations by Barbara’s Dance Group and the San Pedro Dance Company entertained all. See you next year for San Pedro’s 22nd birthday!
