Kaleh Lehmann and Lynn Skinner presented Alirio Franco with the Outstanding Service in the Tourism Industry Award.

He first started working at Banyan Bay cleaning windows and was later promoted to front desk. He moved on to the reservation department and is now reservations supervisor. This week, Alirio Franco was presented with the Outstanding Service in the Tourism Industry Award given by Magnum Belize Tours. The first award ever handed out was given to this hardworking yet noble individual.

Magnum representatives, Kaleh Lehmann and Lynn Skinner arrived in the county on April 28th and on the 29th had the honor of presenting, what will become an annual award, to Franco. “We met Franco in 1997, when Banyan Bay first opened. Since then his service has been unwavering and has gone above and beyond the call of duty. I know people say that all the time but we really mean it for Franco. He is just a fantastic worker but is an even greater person, and we know that the service he offers us he offers every other customer,” stated Kaleh.

Meeting with the surprised Franco at the Blue Water Grill, he commented to The Sun, “I am very happy for having received this award but at the same time I am extremely thankful. This is not my award only, it belongs to the entire staff at Banyan Bay that makes each guest’s experience excellent.” Franco first arrived on the island from Belmopan and his first job was at Banyan Bay. He immediately fell in love with the weather and knew this was going to be his home. However, finding a job at one of the more prestigious hotels on the island was not the best part. “The best part was the people that work at Banyan Bay but also each guest that I meet makes my job even that more special. I love interacting with people. And the people I work with and for are just exceptional.” When asked what makes him give 100% every day at work, he stated, “Competition is fierce here. And, I love it because it keeps you on your toes. You always have to give your best to stay on top and I would not have it any other way.”

Magnum Belize Tours discovered Mother Nature’s Best Kept Secret over 15 years ago and since then represent more than 45 of the finest, personally-selected and inspected resort properties. You can be certain that Magnum will do its best to not only accommodate your trip but make it special, fit to your every need and be exactly what you were looking for. “We don’t sell 5 star resorts, although many of the resorts in the country are, but they are not categorized that way. We sell the adventure, the package – you want a pool, you want a hotel with a restaurant we got it, but if you just want a hotel out of town with no phone or no television we got that for you too. We do everything we can for each customer we come in contact with. Besides Belize is not a hard sell, Belize simply sells itself. People love it! You want ruins - we got ruins, you want marine life we got that too. Our agents have been here and so they know what they are talking about when they are selling the country to any customer,” stated Kaleh.

The Outstanding Service in the Tourism Industry Award will be an annual event and will not only concentrate on hotels but on tour operators, taxi drivers, dive shops and any person within the tourism industry that provides excellent service. Congratulations to Franco!
