Anahir Rocha Gutierrez to represent Nicaragua at Costa Maya’s Beauty Pageant.

As the days draw near and more plans come to light, the excitement over this year’s Costa Maya Festival mounts. This week, the first of the seven contestants vying for the crown of Reina de la Costa Maya has made her proud confirmation. Anahir Rocha Gutierrez is Nicaragua’s beautiful delegate.

Anahir participated in this year’s Miss Nicaragua pageant and although she did not walk away with the crown, she was named second runner-up. This 23-year-old Capricorn is a native of Matagalpa, a northern city of Nicaragua, situated 130 kilometers north of the capital city of Managua, at 3,000 feet over sea level. This five foot, six inch beauty loves the sea and has always admired its grandeur.

The honey-eyed brunette has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and is bilingual in English and Spanish. Anahir is very humble, and is always nice and happy. In an interview with the Nicaraguan press, she commented that she was friends with each of the 15 other girls in the Miss Nicaragua pageant. “People believe that I lied when I said that. That it is hard to be friends with people you are competing with but it was not the case. Socializing and being around 15 women with different personalities helps you grow, helps you be more patient and supportive,” she commented.

Anahir will compete alongside representatives from Belize, Honduras, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and El Salvador on August 3rd, 2006. On July 27th, the Costa Maya Pageant delegates will be hosted in Belize City and will travel to Lamanai and Orange Walk Town where they will be hosted by the Orange Walk Carnival Group. They will then spend the night at Chetumal, Quintana Roo for a gala event sponsored by the Secretaria de Turismo de Othon P. Blanco. The seven gorgeous participants will then arrive in San Pedro Town on July 29th.

For this year’s pageant, also confirmed is the participation of Lillian Villanueva, Mexican television personality and although the male co-host has not been confirmed we can be certain Lillian will add her special touch to the pageant.

On Friday, August 4th, the stage will be illuminated by the Opening Ceremonies and will be attended by dignitaries from the participating countries. Belize and Guatemala cultural presentations will also take place that night, along with the anticipated entertainment of the Argentinean Grupo Miranda.

Saturday is the big International Night and there will be performances by El Salvador, Mexico and Los Mismos. Certainly, many will be delighted to hear their fantastic songs and will be thrilled to sing along.

Sunday is sports day, with volleyball and darts tournaments already in the works. Cultural presentations from Mexico and El Salvador will take to the stage and enlighten everyone with their traditional music and colorful costumes. An artist imitator has also been secured for this night and as soon as more details are released, The Sun will surely let you know.

As every year, the children’s mechanical games will be available for rides and the food booths will also be available. To reserve a booth, kindly call Gach Guerrero at (661) 7779, they can be rented for $400.
