The lovely Miss Silvia Mejia is looking forward to representing her country El Salvador at the Miss Costa Maya Pageant

The roster of beauties keeps increasing and this week we present to you El Salvador’s candidate for this year’s International Reina de la Costa Maya – Silvia Gabriela Mejia Còrdova. The 2004 Miss El Salvador had the honor of representing her country at the Miss Universe and Miss World Pageants that same year.

The 21-year-old brunette is in the process of obtaining her Master’s degree in International Law. During her year of reign, Silvia had the opportunity to work with the needy and homeless children and this is exactly the reason she has chosen her particular career because she plans to be an advocate for women and children defending their rights.

The youngest of three girls, Silvia is characterized by being a sentimental, romantic, sweet and caring individual. Responsible and dedicated in her studies and is known for giving one hundred percent always. The former Miss El Salvador has a sweet tooth unlike any other stating that pastries are her favorite foods. But to work off all those calories gained with the delicious snacks, Silvia enjoys her favorite sport of volley ball.

A person Silvia truly admires is Pope John II, “because he dedicated his existence to help others and to spread God’s message of love, peace, respect, and fraternity in a materialistic world. He was a living example of hope that should be imitated by others,” she commented.

Silvia is candidate number four to walk away with the coveted Costa Maya crown. Who will wear it at the end of the night? Be a part of the evening and cheer for your favorite girl on Thursday, August 4th, 2006. After the pageant be delighted with the music of Sabor Latino.

For Friday night, aside from the group Miranda, committee organizers have recruited great Belizean entertainers such as Mad Dem Crew, Backyaa’d Crew, and on Saturday the Rock Alternative band straight out of Belize City – Echoes.

On August 5th and 6th, sports enthusiasts can enjoy the Third Annual Costa Maya two man beach volleyball tournament. Fantastic cash prizes are up for grabs and sponsors for this event include Ambergris Volleyball Association, Cannibals Bar and Restaurant, Costa Maya International Festival, San Pedro Town Board, Captain Sharks and Ambergris Divers.
