Lucky winner Ernesto Gomez won a shopping spree in Miami, Florida, USA for using his credit card!

I t’s that time of year again, Christmas season where bargains, raffles and other promotional events are being hosted by several business establishments and commercial banks in Belize. This case is no different as Scotia Bank has been hosting several promotional activities for the last month and a half. Winners would receive fabulous prizes and for one individual in San Pedro, Christmas came early.
Ernesto Gomez was the lucky San Pedro resident to cash in big winning a trip to Miami, Florida, USA for a shopping spree courtesy of this friendly bank. The Credit Card Campaign, as it is called, gives customers the opportunity to swipe and win, so to speak. Once a customer uses his or her credit card, a chance to participate in the raffle is automatic but done behind closed doors. According to Sales and Marketing officer, Josie Andrews, “the campaigns are geared at their number one priority, “customer service.”
The Sun caught up with the lucky winner, Ernesto Gomez and asked about how he entered to win. “Well I usually do business with most of the banks. I used my Gold membership credit card and was surprised to hear that I was the winner. I never used the card for the purpose of winning, when I got the call I couldn’t believe it until I saw it was true.” Gomez won a four day shopping spree trip to Miami for two persons. Hotel and transportation costs are paid for, plus one thousand U.S. dollars credit will be added to his card to be used at his disposal. Uncertain of a date to cash in to collect the prize, a humble Gomez stated he is still working on a plan and that he is thinking on making it a family trip for early next year or in the summer.
It was only a year ago that Scotia Bank Belize introduced its credit card service which offers three products to its customers: the Standard, Gold and the American Advantage. Andrews explains, “It’s something we believe that the Belizean public is able to use. It makes day to day banking much easier. It is very easy to swipe the card and with all these promotions that we have we just want everyone to know that it is very easy to go ahead and use the card and that it is very safe and secure as well.” Scotia Bank Belize also plans to offer internet banking to its regular and business customers in the near future.
