"Fein-a-Lee” captained by Sean Feinstein was the top boat in this year’s 3rd Annual Dia de San Pedro Fishing Tournament that was held last weekend June 30th to July 1st. On Saturday, a myriad of boats lined the docks ready and eagerly awaiting for the clock to strike six marking the start of the Tournament. Saturday was day one of the competition, on Sunday it culminated with the official weigh in on the beach by Ambergris Divers. Sunshine and warm temperatures were popular in demand which allowed over 75 participants to take advantage of a beautiful summer day outdoors for some good fishing.

At the end of day two, hundreds of people waited for the boats to come in and stood in awe as they watched the anglers bring out their catch for weigh in. Party goers enjoyed an afternoon beach party and gala buffet at the Caliente beachfront whilst being entertained by Barry & The Islanders.

The results are in: here is recap of the competition: Top Boat went to “Fein-a-Lee” captained by Sean Feinstein who finished with 289 total points and first place in the competition. Feinstein walked away with the top boat prize of $3,500 plus bragging rights and a trophy. Second place went to “Sly Dog” captained by Roberto Guerrero with 180 points and won $2,000. The heaviest King fish which weighed 17 pounds was caught by Shadany Bradley on board “Christina” and biggest barracuda was caught by Allan Willis onboard “Get Some” which weighed 16 pounds.

The Calcutta prize is a favorite and tradition amongst the anglers, where they bid on the boats before the competition. First and second place of the Calcutta Prize went to Tim Jeffers ($8,460) and Andre Perez ($4,230) respectively.

The tournament, well into its third year has grown to be prominent and is anticipated every year during the festivities. Like past years, the organizers aim of the event is to serve as an attractive calling for fishing aficionados countrywide and abroad, and at the same time pay tribute to Saint Peter who was a fisherman himself. This year, a total of 21 boats partook in the competition which had over 75 anglers.
