The Mayor, Town Councilors and staff paraded in celebration of Township Day

San Pedro Roman Catholic School’s pom-pom girls kept the spirit alive during the lively parade through town.

Due to the inclement weather, Township Day festivities were short-lived in San Pedro this year. Nevertheless, the town celebrated its 23rd Anniversary in which La Isla Bonita became a town. Like tradition, a parade through the principal streets of town was the first event on the agenda. Crowds of energetic students, flanked by Mayor Elsa Paz and Town Councilors and employees were on hand to participate in the town’s milestone. Cited as one of the biggest turnouts the town has seen, the parade kept the vibe alive with its flowing drumming rhythms. The schools participation in this event was significant as majority schools took out a marching band, drum corps, majorettes to pitch in the festivities. Because of the continued inclement weather, all other planned activities for the day were cancelled.

San Pedro was declared a town by the Government of Belize in 1984 and November 27th is observed as Township Day. Happy 23rd Anniversary San Pedro Town!
