They have been at the forefront of headlines and news, standing up for their members’ beliefs. However, the San Pedro Business Association (SPBA) also strives to promote the island and offer monthly events to keep both the locals and tourists entertained. With the success of their June Lobsterfest, SPBA plans on rocking the island with their January Restaurant Challenge/Block Party.
In the same fashion as the Lobsterfest, booths will be arranged on the street side and vendors will get the opportunity to delight revelers with delicious treats and drinks. Vendors will have the opportunity to win a prize for the best decorated booth. However, food items will not be judged by their individual booths but rather, there will be a cook off Food Network style.
For those food aficionados who follow the Food Network (Channel 68) know of the show entitled Iron Chef America. In the same manner as the show, four to six chefs will be invited to participate. They will be responsible for bringing their own ingredients, ingredients which they believe they will use during the challenge. At the beginning of the event, the chefs will be told their “secret ingredient.” This ingredient will be used to create two different dishes in an hour’s time span.
In the same fashion, bartenders will be asked to create their drink using the “secret ingredient” in a 20 minute span. Only the best chef and bartender will survive. Who will it be? Join SPBA on January 26th at the Central Park at 6:00 p.m. to find out.
