Local Reggaeton Artists Franxel y Chami-Ka, from Belmopan, Cayo District, were in San Pedro over the weekend, filming footage for their new music video entitled “Feel Your Love (en San Pedro)” in which they feature Shadwyze, a native American Indian from Florida, USA now residing in Belize. This marks the duo’s second music video and is scheduled to be released in the United States within the month. The idea of the video is to showcase their talents to a wider audience. Footage collected will depict the daily life in San Pedro in a beautiful way; from the long white sandy beaches, the vast expanse of the Caribbean Sea, to the pools, water sports activities and the night life in La Isla Bonita. With the recent hike in crime in the country and the negative press that has come along with it, Franxel y Chami-Ka hope that this video will help to promote Belize in a more positive light.

Franxel y Chami-Ka became a group on February 1st 2009. Since then, they have had the opportunity to showcase their talents in various venues. Their dedication, persistence and faith in their music have taken them to Guatemala to perform at a Telethon, where they made their first international debut. In January 2010, the duo was invited to appear on the show “Desorden Con El Rasta” (a television show that showcases reggaeton artists from all over the world), in La Ceiba; Honduras, where they introduced their music video entitled “Noche de Pegue”. In La Ceiba, their music video was well received, and as a result Franxel y Chami-ka have grown very popular in that country. In February 2010, Franxel y Chami-Ka had the opportunity to win the hearts of the residents of San Pedro Ambergris Caye, with an extraordinary performance as the second local performers leading up to the DJ Flex/Nigga Concert. The Duo has expressed interests in being invited to perform in this year’s Costa Maya Festival.

Driven by their determination to succeed, and take Belize to another level in the music industry, Franxel y Chami-Ka have recently completed recording their first ever reggaetón album out of Belize, entitled “Los Nenes Del Grubeo”. The album is scheduled to be released by late June 2010, with the finishing touches being made in New Jersey, USA.

Their lyrics and beats are original, and are produced by RVM Records, located in Santa Elena, Cayo Distict. The album, “Los Nenes Del Grubeo,” counts on the participation of internationally acclaimed artists such as Shadowyze; Best Hip Hop Native American Music Award recipient in 2005, and Grammy Nominee; Ras Indio, Belizean reggae star. The group has great expectations for their future, including exploring the possibilities of a show in the Dominican Republic and at the Park Fest in New York City, in July 2010.

Franxel y Chami-ka take this opportunity to express their gratitude to their sponsors: La Cabaña, Belizeteve/Morpho Productions (Belmopan), Royal Caribbean Resort, Victoria House, Liquor Box, Jose Chacon, Ralfy Banton, Chambita, Mrs. Delia Figueroa, DJ Lotion, Reef Radio and the Caye Caulker Water Taxi Assn. The video is being produced by Morpho Productions. Special thanks to Josh “El Codigo”, Producer (RVM Records) Myro “El Fundamento”, and to the beautiful ladies, Michelle, Amber, Tracy, Tania and Alicia; for being a part of the video.
