 
Tropic Air has made aviation history recently by receiving the 1,000th Cessna Caravan made by the Cessna Corporation of Wichita, Kansas. In a special ceremony in October, Tropic executives Steve Schulte and John Greif III accepted delivery of this aircraft from Cessna Officials. The ceremony was held at the 1998 International Trade Show sponsored by National Business Aircraft Association in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The 1,000th Caravan is an industry milestone in that production of most aircraft are at best limited to a few hundred of any one make or model being produced. The Cessna Caravan is a highly respected and sought after airplane with an excellent safety record. The Caravan is ideally suited for use in Belize as it is able to transport passengers and cargo and it has a "pilot friendly" configuration. Tropic Air was given the honor of receiving this special aircraft because they typify the market segment this aircraft is geared to. Their excellent reputation and commitment to the industry made them the perfect choice for this historic honor. "This new addition gives Tropic the distinction of having one of the youngest and newest fleets in the world," says John Grief III founder and Director of Operations for Tropic. "We were anxious to get this new airplane in time for the busy season so that we could accommodate our visitors and passengers in an expeditious manner. We are eagerly awaiting the challenge," Grief concluded. Local Tropic Air pilot Armando Ramirez flew the new Caravan, named India Kilo, here via Houston. With the addition of this new Caravan, Tropic Air is continuing its commitment to being "The oldest airline with the youngest and most modern fleet in Belize".
