First San Pedro International Costa Maya Festival meeting held

Charlotte Romero

...Charlotte Romero to represent Belize in Reina de la Costa Maya pageant

On Thursday, January 22nd, 1998, the first San Pedro International Costa Maya Festival (SPICMF) (previously know as the Sea and Air Festival) meeting for 1998 was held at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall.

The meeting was open to the public but only two new people attended in addition to last year's committee members. The members discussed the different sub-committees that had to be formed and suggestions were made to improve these sub-committees.

It was decided that the SPICMF needed two logos this year. A permanent one to use on letterheads and cards and a logo that will be used on T-shirts and on banners. People are encouraged to start designing their logos and to submit them to members of the committee or to the San Pedro Sun.

A list of prospective entertainers for Belize Caribbean night was reviewed and it was suggested that another questionnaire be printed in the Sun to get feedback from the community. Volunteers are welcome and last year's sponsors and new prospective sponsors are encouraged to support the festival this year. The next festival meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 10th, 1998, at 7:30 p.m. at Paradise Hotel.

It was also announced that Belize already has its contestant for the Reina del la Costa Maya Beauty Pageant. Ms. Charlotte Romero, a 22 year old teacher from Corozal town, will be representing Belize. Ms. Romero teaches at the Corozal Community College and was the 1st runner up in the Miss Belize Pageant 1996\97.
