Severo Guerrero guides Mark Sosin of Saltwater Journal

Mr. Sosin and his crew were in San Pedro shooting a promotional video for Journey's End Resort. During his stay, San Pedro's own Severo Guerrero Sr. was chosen as his guide for the film. Severo is a well known guide with thirteen years experience in this field, seven of those have been devoted to fly fishing. The two-day fishing expedition on March 6th and 7th commenced at 7:00 a.m. and went on until 5:00 p.m. Severo took Mr. Sosin fly fishing aboard the "Rosangela" his 23 ft. Mexican skiff (lanchon) appropriate for this sport. Accompanying Severo was his brother Ramon with his skiff where the film crew rode. Catch and release practices were done in various points of the island, Laguna de Cantena, Bacalar Chico and several other places. The two days of filming were successful as Mark was able to catch six bonefish and jumped three baby tarpons and a snook.

In an interview with the San Pedro Sun, Severo said, "I was happy, because he was happy. He was very satisfied with the expedition." The film was aired on TNN on March 27th, 1999. In this film, like others he's done, Mark shares information of inshore and offshore fishing, the importance of water temperature, colors fish see, all about hooks, choosing and using of lead headed jigs and other tips to become a better fisherman.

Severo's interest in giving professional service and friendly disposition towards his clients have also gotten him featured in U.S. fly fishing magazines. One of these articles, printed some years ago, called "Postcards from Belize", speaks about the wonderful fly fishing in Belize and the excellent job done by Severo. Way to go Severo and way to promote La Isla Bonita.
