Reel Action wins again

Ralston Reynolds and the fishing team of Reel Action took top honors again this year at the Belize Game Fishing Association (BGFA) sponsored "June Blue Water Summer Splash Tournament". This is the second win for Reel Action this season, the previous being the Caye Caulker Bill Fishing Tournament. "Thank God for patience and knowledge," was Ralston's response to the win.

This BGFA tournament, held June 4th, 5th, and 6th, started off with Doug Freeman of Sea Boots catching the first Blue Marlin (143 pounds) Friday morning. Saturday morning proved a better morning for Reel Action's Mike Berquist, who landed the trophy-winning, 260 pound Blue Marlin just an hour and a half east of St. George's Caye. This monster took approximately an hour and twenty minutes of fighting time to reel in. It was the only fish they caught, but also gave them the winning points for Champion Boat and the Top Male Angler prize.

No fish were caught on Sunday, and so the tournament ended with the following results: Champion Boat - Reel Action, 2nd Boat - Get Some, 3rd Boat - Gone Again. Heaviest Blue Marlin - Mike Berquist, Heaviest King Fish - Stephen Huesner, Heaviest Wahoo - Dr. Cawich, Heaviest Tuna - Susan Wilken, Heaviest Dolphin - Doug Freeman. Top Male Angler - Mike Berquist, Top Female Angler - Susan Wilken, Top Junior Angler - T.J. Stark.

Prizes were given and a celebration party took place at a BBQ/fish fry held Sunday afternoon on St. George's Caye with entertainment provided by Celeste and Barefoot Skinny.
