Miss Teen Belize Contestants visit San Pedro

Contestants for the title of Miss Teen Belize

A nearly perfect day welcomed the contestants of the first ever Miss Teen Belize Pageant to San Pedro. The participants arrived from Belize City aboard Zip Zap, the official sea transport of the pageant. Awaiting the ladies were San Pedro's candidates Adaly Guerrero and Christina Astheimer. Escorting the bevy were the dynamic group of pageant organizers, WAVE radio representative Wil Canto and delegate's trainer, Miss Belize 1995, Ava Lovell.

The participants were accommodated at The Palms Condominiums, where they quickly got into their beach attire for a scheduled photo session with the San Pedro Sun. The contestants then moved to Tarzan's Night Club for rehearsal before their presentation later in the evening. Back in their rooms, the contestants only had a short time to relax and get ready for an elegant dinner at Tropica Restaurant. The delegates then returned to Tarzan' s where they made a special appearance and presentation. Town Councilor, Omar Guerrero gave the young ladies and organizers a warm welcome on behalf of the Mayor and the community of San Pedro. Each contestant was then introduced. The crowd went wild as they cheered for their favorite.

On Sunday, July 25th the twelve young ladies were hosted to breakfast by Island Cuisine Restaurant and to lunch by Fido's Restaurant. They spent the rest of the island touring San Pedro in golf carts.

The first ever Miss Teen Belize Pageant will be held July 30th, 1999, at the Belize City Center starting at 7:30 p.m. All contestants will model in swimsuit and evening wear, make a talent presentation and display their individual personality in an interview session. The evening promises to be one to remember and will feature a fashion show, international modeling, George of the Jungle and the new R.V. dance (surprise presentations), and the Belizean version of Ricky Martin's Dance "Living La Vida Loca." The entrance ticket stubs will also give you an opportunity to win the many give-a-way prizes and surprises.

Tickets for the pageant are now on sale: children under 12 years old - $5; general admission - $10; and reserved seating - $20. Tickets can be bought in Belize City at Venus Photos & Records, Sundae's and Record Shacks I and II.
