Ghost and Goblins, witches and wizards, mummies, devils and
numerous other creatures of the night roamed the streets of San Pedro at
the various Halloween events in town. Halloween in San Pedro keeps
getting bigger and better every year and this was clearly visible last
weekend.
Celebrations commenced as early as Friday, October
29th at the San Pedro
Pre-School. The students were treated to a costume party by their parents
and teachers. In the evening the place to be was the Lions Den, where ABC
Pre-School held its annual Halloween Bazaar.
This evening was enjoyed by everyone
who attended the fair. Many fun games and prizes were available. The
highlights of this evening were the costume competition and the Queen and
King competition. Nine prizes were given out in the costume competition
with the overall scariest prize going to Chucky's Bride. The King and
Queen competition was a tight one but in the end Vilma Arceo was crowned
Queen and Carter Phillips as King.
Saturday night was the long-awaited night for the
adults. The day started with heavy rains that lasted throughout the
evening, but in San Pedro, during Halloween time, rain really is not much
of an obstacle. The Annual Bash at Holiday Hotel went on as expected and
many say it was one of the best they've ever had. Creation at its best
could be seen on the dance floor at the Holiday. From the mythical Medusa
to the "Bare-Butt Mummy," all costumes were perfectly detailed for the
occasion. Others partied at Big Daddy's Discotheque for what they
described as the final and biggest Halloween Party of the Millennium.
Gilharry 7 provided the great music at this party.

On Halloween night, the San Pedro R.C. School held
their family Halloween Fair. The fair was a great success. Lots of games,
food and drinks were on hand. A costume competition was held, as well as
the selection of Miss Halloween Queen. Winning first prize in the costume
competition was the Mummy. Second prize went to the Card Man, third prize
to Styrofoam man and the fourth prize went to the pretty Indian
girl. Twelve girls competed for the queen's title but at the end of the competition it
was Standard V's candidate, Yeseni Novelo, who was crowned. Yeseni's
class, parents and friends came up with a grand total of 2,690.11 points.
For many it is now time to go back to the
drawing board and start brain-storming next year's costume. Whether it is
something out of this world or just the good old white sheet over you,
each costume is special if that spooky Halloween feeling lives inside
you.
