  The date has been announced for the International Costa Maya Festival, San Pedro's premier event. Mark your calendars for this year's festival for August 17th - 22nd. Chairman Eiden Salazar Jr. and his committee will begin planning very soon and will announce place and dates of meetings in upcoming issues of the San Pedro Sun. The six day festival joins the Mundo Maya countries to share their musical and cultural diversities. A recent addition to the festival has been the Reina De La Costa Maya Internacional Pageant which is a must see event with representatives from Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Mexico. The reigning queen, for 1998/99 is Miss Astrid Ramirez from Guatemala. Click here for pictures and descriptions of previous years' fun!
