Bread Pudding

Try the rich and deliciously sweet Bread Pudding, often baked with yummy raisins.
Another street treat that satiates hunger has got to be the bread pudding. This luscious dessert requires its main ingredient, the bread, to be a few days old. It is derived from the Creole and uses bread and milk as its primary ingredients, creating a warm and most delightful Belizean dessert. The entire family can devour this tasty treat; simply follow these easy steps. First, gather all the ingredients; bread (preferably a couple days old), evaporated milk, melted butter, 2 eggs, 1 tsp vanilla and raisins (as many or as little as you like). Now its time for preparation: in a bowl, take the bread and soak it with the evaporated milk. Once it has soaked up the milk, start squeezing and mixing the milk-soaked bread. Next, add all the remaining ingredients, plus sugar, depending on the sweetness you prefer.

Blend the mixture thoroughly until properly mixed. Grease a baking pan with a little butter and pour mixture. Sprinkle sugar on top so that it bakes crisply, then bake at 350 degrees for an hour or until tooth pick inserted in center comes out clean. Let it cool, then devour your homemade dessert! This yummy recipe has been passed down from generation to generation, family favorites that have stood the test of time. Try it today or purchase them at your local fruit and veggie stalls in San Pedro!
