PHOTO GALLERY DIRECTIONS

to add pics, go to this forum, then hit NEW IMAGE , then its the same as a regular post but click the link near the bottom that says Image Manager and that brings up the upload box. click "Choose file" to add your picture, then click "add file", it takes a minute to upload the file after you hit ADD FILE. then click DONE ADDING FILES when you have added all your files.

Make sure you hit "add file" after you have selected the file. It kind of seems like a second step for the same thing. Once you browse to find your file, and select it, it seems like you are done and have chosen the file. But you still have to hit the "add file" button. For each image...

Here's another set of directions written by one more knowledgeable than i
-------------

Using Gallery Forums

Using Gallery Forums are just like using any other forums... However, you can post images too!

After you create your post (subject and post, both required) you can click on the "Image Manager" link. Users may add up to however many images you signify in your setting (default of 3).

Adding images are as easy as:
1. Click "Browse" and a navigation area will appear that shows your computers files, navigate around to locate the image you'd like to upload. Once located, click on the image and select "open"; you can also choose to add a description (note that in v7.2 you do not have the option to change the description once another image is added).

2. If you wish to add another image, repeat step one, otherwise select "done". Otherwise, select "done".

From here, just press submit, and your new "Gallery Posting" should appear for users to comment on your image(s).

THANKS A MILLION! The word Image Manager (which does not look like a link) is at the bottom of the box, not across the top where I was looking.

Here is an easy way to resize your photos if you use Microsoft:

Use Microsoft's default photo software (if you haven't specified anything different, it is what the computer will use). Go to the folder with your pictures in it and double click the photo you want to upload.

It will open in a viewer, at the top is a tool bar with the option to 'Edit Picture'. Click on that and a menu appears to the right of the picture.

I recommend 'Resize', using the 'Percentage of original' and reduce the size using the Down Arrow key to the right of the little box until the size (shown as the New Size) is about 1280 x 960. I chose this size because it is twice the size of most web pictures and pictures look better when they are reduced to fit an image size but not if they have to be enlarged. This reduces a 1.04 MB photo to 362 KB.

Caution: As soon as you change a photo, save it using the 'Save As' option (in the File pull down menu at top) and give it a new name or you will lose your original photo. It is best to make the copy first and work with it to make sure this doesn't happen. If you decide you don't like the changes you made or you don't want to reduce the size as much, you can't make it larger without affecting the quality of the photo. Also, if you ever want to print a copy out, the quality will not be as good. AND when you exit the Picture Manager, DO NOT SAVE ANY CHANGES TO THE ORIGINAL PHOTO (unless you are working from a copy).

Hope this helps.
