something went wrong with the photo quality on that last post so I reposted it at another size and it got rid of the problem.
So again, this is the Belize Tarpon all the fishermen lust after, Megalops atanticus
The are only 3 and one half to 4 feet.

there was a taxi driver called "Orlando" had a lake in his yard, stocked with tarpon in them near royal palm... years ago....

Its such a cool fish. I'm glad its catch and release ,Belize has a lot.

Nice shot. It's always special for me to see tarpon on a dive. A google search says these guys can get up to 8' and 350 lbs. Thats a big fish. Most of the ones I have seen have been in the 5' to 6' range. And they are unconcerned by divers. What I have noticed is that during the day they spend their time in small groups. I have never seen just 1 during the day and they seem pretty lethargic. At night they become a little territorial while feeding along the reef. Its as if each one has staked out their section of the reef to feed and they respect each others section.

I looked up 'silver sides' and it says 50 or more species to small to identify so they are just all called 'silver sides', Tarpon just call them 'lunch'.
