The economy is doing better this season. Yes you can usually find something, but it may take you some hours at each stop to do so. You will end up with very high end or low end places. I also like to travel without booking in advance, but try to find a few one night reservations on my trips just to have a place rest and check things out. If I get detained I only loose the one night fee. March is the busiest.
