We're taking a trip to AC in late June with our two kids. We have the opportunity to choose between the Costa Maya Resort and Captain Morgan's. Can anyone give us their oppinion on which place has nicer units, pools, beaches etc.?
Any feedback would be welcome, thanks!

As Captain Morgans was just a stop for some lunch and a rum punch, on our golf cart cruise, I was really impressed with the place.. shocked ) The waiting staff was excellent and the food was great. Their pool was clean and presentable and large as was their dining area. I myself would think about trying that resort out. But am dedicated to the sunbreeze. It is located 3 miles on the North end of the island and is quite a ways from the town. So i would suggest golf cart rental if you want access to town. Costa Maya which was the last resort we stopped at before turning around to go back to San Pedro was about 6 miles on the North End. You could email Captain Morgans and Costa Maya for information on this.

We like Capt. Morgan's and would highly recommend it for you. We are planning our 5th trip now and will be back there in early 2006. Great place and people and just a nice bike ride to town or you can catch a ride in their boats when they are going to town for free and catch the water taxi back.

we spent 2 weeks at cms last feb with our 2 teens and all loved it. biked up to the other resort which looked very nice...but far away from everything. staff is great at cms and there are enough special activities to occupy nights you don't want to go into town. we had a golf cart (gas powered) the whole time we were there so we didn't have to wait for water taxis. the dive shops and tour operators pick you up right at the dock. my son got very good at coming and going with his dive groups while the rest of us sunned, read, ate etc! have a great time, wish we were headed back soon....
