We are coming down next month and I would like to run in the mornings to work off the previous days excesses, Belikin, food, Belikin, etc. What would be the most interesting route, going south from town or crossing the bridge and going north? Thanks.

I personally like to run south on the beach...as up north it is very bumpy/rocky right now and harder to run as you have to slow down in many areas.

I think running on the road north of the bridge to about Playa Blanca (only 6 miles) should be a good run for ya'!

Is that 6 one way? I'm only good for 3-5 total, as long as I get up early enough to beat the heat.

My wife and I, when we come down, run usually about three basic routes (and it's probably for about the same mileage you're talking):

1. Running down the shore south and back (we stay at a place on the south edge of town)
2. Running up the shore to the cut and back (not as long).
3. Running south of town down some of the streets around the canals. This is good to break up the scenery but the roads are rough on our ankles.

We are staying at The Palms from 8/3 - 8/8 and Blue Tang from 8/9 - 8/11. We were in Huatulco. Oaxaca in May and I had to get my run in before 0900 or it was Africa hot on top of humidity. I can generally handle the humidity if temps are lower. I do live in central Texas so heat is no stranger but I'm a 44 yr old in denial.
