Perla is lovely.

Island Ferry (20 mins), water taxi (10 mins) and/or a 45 min. cart ride - all one way.

SIN,

What about Portofino, any info there? Their web site says water access only. Do water taxis run into the evening for those who want to go to a restaurant in town?

Thanks for the info by the way!

Yes, I believe the last boat leaves for Portofino at 12 midnight, from Fido's dock. I hear Portofino is BEAUTIFUL!!

Enjoy!

I've stayed at Portofino several times, it is extremely lovely. Very nice and you CAN get a golf cart there, we get one every time. It is a bit bumpy though. It isn't a problem going into town to eat but you will be coming back by golf cart in the dark, we have done this many times. OR you can take a ferry back. There are several lovely restaurants up that way and if you are springing for the $$ to stay at Portofino it will be no problem for you to eat dinner up on the North side. It is quiet and serene and really beautiful on the North side. No golf cart fumes, no noise from anything. Very nice.

Malibu,

I just heard that Portofino does not have a freshwater pool, how was the beach for swimming? Otherwise it looks like a really great place to stay.

Thanks for the info.

That is correct they don't have a pool. Honestly we don't find a need for a pool when you have the Carribeano right there. Snorkel for goodness sakes! We haven't gone swimming off the beach but I do see a lot of sea grass down there. We have talked about it and don't understand why you would want a pool. All the ones I see on the island are always empty!
PS They make the coffee blessedly EARLY so you can get up and watch the sunrise and have your coffee too! smile
