The Judge speaks. Thanks Denny. Another peculiarity of our legal system that I have always found interesting is a person can be found "not guilty" but not necessarily innocent. Some what perplexing to the layman who might consider those terms to be synomomous, albeit understanding that to be "guilty" one must have that established i.e. found guilty or convicted. Makes for some not so innocent people running around. Keeps our world from being boring and perfect. Just one more reason to be thankful for lawyers, especially for those of us not so innocent.

Now that might sound like another slam against lawyers, but it actually is meant to be the opposite. Better to strive for perfection than to demand nothing less understanding that imperfect people cannot make a perfect world. Better to try and fail, than not to try at all.

I have to step up to the plate and defend my profession here. As a woman lawyer, I don't like a lot of lawyers out there, but I like what I do for a living. I practice civil insurance defense, mostly insurance fraud. So, I am out there fighting fraud and there is lots of it, folks! Set up accidents, dirty chiropractors and doctors, auto repair fraud rings, set up burglaries and car thefts, MediCal fraud. Wonder why your insurance costs so much?

Hey, the job keeps me with steady travel funds so I can keep going back to Belize!

Wow, Denny, couldn't have said what you said better myself.

Poor Kobe.

He's off the hook from prosecution, but still on the hook for a civil case. As if defending himself in the first case wasn't enough of a burden.

So take heed guys . . . if you've got a few bucks and some public stature . . . better you keep it in your pants.

I'm reasonably confident that had his accuser felt pressured into the same situation by a bellman, she'd have accepted her responsibility for any of her own behaviour.

She should have had her mace with her.

(mace, good grief)

Thanks LaurieMar....

I agree with you whole-heartedly. It's a real mess out there. I for one honestly believe the majority of lawyers are honest and hard-working... but you only hear about the lowlifes. The squeeky door always gets the oil.

At least you have picked a noble profession in order to support your habit. laugh eek

In Spanish the letter w is pronounced dooh-blay.. with the o being a long o... not ew but ooh. I think I'm right but could very possibly be injusticia. eek

Hey Denny,

Are there really common law crimes in the U.S.? I have never heard of that.
