Just returned from SP and have the credit card bills.

Cash gives you the 2 Belezian Dollars to the US$.

Amex Blue charges 2.9% extra

Citibank's AT&T card charges 4%

Capital One charges 2%

Belize Bank's ATM with Bank of America charges 3.9%. Maximum withdrawl is US$250

It is different for everyone. Some are charged a flat $2 us no matter how much you take out. I am charged $5 us.

travellers cheques ok down there instead of straight cash? can i convert at a bank if need be? probably should have asked this before i went to AAA and got the damn cheques!

Traveler's checks were very easy. Hotels and most restaurants and shops take them and give you change in BZ (or a mix of US and BZ). I never even had to go to the bank.
