Coming to CC for first time. Other than the
places that are usually mentioned on this and other travel boards are there any
suggestions for fun/unusual things to
visit.
Restaurants and local food are a big part
of any trip. I don't care how "rough"
the place looks I would appreciate any
suggestions. Also is fresh conch available
this time of year ( its great eating with some lime and it makes great bait)
Love FRESH fish with rice and beans.
Fresh squeezed juices.
Thanks again to all who respond.

Fresh fish and yummy conch fingers are found at Rainbow Grill and Bar. Also had good food at Rasta Pasta. HUGE burritos there.

This year we went to the zoo just outside of Belize City. It is really a nice zoo with animals that are native to Belize. Very interesting. Our friendly cab driver Gustavo also took us on a tour of Belize City.

Belize Rice and Beans is what's for dinner for most folks. It includes a piece of chicken stewed in recardo, a red spice not hot. The rice is cooked together with coconut milk and beans so the beans break up a little.About US$3 and the most famous one for gourmets is Rosie's street cart. Come early if you don't have reservations. She calmly stands there in front of a heavily laden cart with a smiling apology for you because every blessed plate has been reserved.
Best breakfast is easily the one at Lazy Iguana B&B but you have to stay there to eat there.

I meant to write cheese omelet at Glenda's for breakfast. Also there's a great little fresh fruit stand on front street for great juices and cut up fruit. Fresh orange and pinapple juice with One Barrel makes a fine cocktail!
