We'll be coming down there a week from today for 4 days and I was wondering what tour(s) I should do. We're mainly determined to get some r&r, but love to snorkle. We are definately going to go to Shark Ray Alley and Hol Chan, but would also like to do a longer, more remote tour. We're considering the full day manatee watching (Mangrove Island)/Coco Solo beach bbq/Caye Caulker trip, or Mexico Rocks snorkeling, or full day Caye Caulker snorkeling, etc trip. Also maybe a rent kayaks and explore the lagoons. We've pretty much ruled out any mainland trips because of time restraints. We'll have to plan another trip to do the rainforest/ruins thing, but I've done some workshops in the Amazon so I dont need to do that this time.

Any opinions from anybody who's done any of these tours? Also it seems like there a lot of good guides/operators out there like Sea-rious, and Sea-duced. Any recommendations?

Thanks all!

I swear by the trip on the Winnie Estelle, which is aconverted trawler that leaves the texaco dock aroud 10a; snorkle twice and stay on caye caulker about three hours. seems to me it was about $50 us. The main question is are you bothered by other tourists? The boat carries about 25. Would you prefer a smaller boat? Mexico rocks imho was v average

I went for a long weekend (4 days) about 3 years ago. If I remember correctly, I did the snorkeling at Shark Ray Alley one day, Mexico Rocks another day (during the day) and a night snorkel that night (awesome). I also did the tour to Altun Ha (main land). Was very busy but did have some time for relaxation later in the days and at night. 4 days just wasn't enough. Finally going back in June. Have a wonderful time! Sharon

The answer about night snorkeling is yes, a guide goes with you. Normally we do divers and snorkelers off the smae boat, but with a divemaster for the divers and a snorkel guide for the snorkelers. Prices are avaialble by email. if interested drop us a line at [email protected] or visit www.barefootwatersports.net.

Debbie, Hey girl! I gave you all the info via personal email last night. You might have seen it already. I wish we could go together, too. Gives us a reason to go back, huh? (Like we really need one!) Work on your hubby! I'm sure you can use your charm and talk him into it!

Barefoot, Thanks for the additional info. I only knew of 1 lace that did night snorkels. I'll check it out.

Thanks Barefoot. I just sent an email. this is so exciting.... I'm REALLY looking forward to this. I've been reading my son's dive magazines and my Caribbean magazine, and it all sounds so awesome......
