Team Ace, Hurricane, Young Stars & Phoenix win in BTTA team table tennis

[Linked Image] Team Ace team posted their 2nd win in the 1st Division, while the Hurricanes, Young Stars and Phoenix each enjoyed wins in the 2nd division of the 2010 brothers HABET Team League "Round Robin" Tournament, which continued this past weekend with 4 team matches played.

In the 1st Division, Team ACE defeated Team NO MERCY - 5 to 1. This victory for ACE now puts them in a "tied" position for 2nd with Team RACQUETEERS. Team NO MERCY now struggles with a record of no wins and 3 losses. Team BOMBERS remain in the #1 position with 3 wins and no losses to date. Team SUGA CITY currently sits in 4th position.

In the 2nd Division, Team HURRICANE defeated Team GARAGE - 5 to 3; Team PHOENIX defeated Team COBRA - 5 to 0 and Team YOUNG STARS defeated Team "L" - 5 to 3

In the 2nd Division, Team PHOENIX now leads the competition with a 4-0 record. Team GARAGE is now in the 2nd after a recent loss to COBRA. Team YOUNG STARS remain impressive after recording their 2nd victory over Team "L". They now move up to the 4th position while Team HURRICANE is in 3rd position.

The competition continues this coming weekend, October 23, 2010 with the following matches scheduled. In 1st DIVISION play: ACE vs RACQUETEERS; NO MERCY vs SUGA CITY; BOMBERS vs RIVERO WELDERS, while in the 2nd DIVISION: HURRICANE vs TEAM "L"; GARAGE vs PHOENIX and COBRA vs ASSASINS.

Team YOUNG STARS are also scheduled to move up their match scheduled for Nov. 6, 2010 against Team COBRA, to this coming weekend.

The BTTA invites the general public to come out and witness very exciting and competitive matches in this 2010 Team League tournament.

Brothers Habet Team League Table Tennis Competition continues at the Belize Elementary School

[Linked Image] The 2nd Annual Brothers Habet Team League Table Tennis competition continued on Saturday October 23, 2010, at the Belize Elementary School Auditorium. In the first division, all six teams that were scheduled to play did complete their schedule. In the first game, it was Team NO MERCY winning over Team SUGA CITY by the score of 5 to 3.
In game two, Team BOMBERS defeated Team RIVERO WELDERS by the score of 5 to 4. In the final game in division 1, Team ACE defeated Team RACQUETEERS by the score of 5 to 3. In this division, Team BOMBERS remained undefeated with Team ACE in the second place position. The competition then continued in division 2, with four games on the schedule for that day.

In game one, Team ASSASIN defeated Team COBRA by the score of 5 to 0. In game two, Team Hurricane won over Team "L" via the default route. In game three, Team PHOENIX defeated Team GARAGE by the score of 5 to 4. In the final game of the day, Team YOUNG STARS defeated Team COBRA by the score of 5 to 0. In this division, Team PHOENIX is the only team that is undefeated followed by Team HURRICANE and Team YOUNG STARS. The regular competition is scheduled to come to an end shortly with the next round of the competition scheduled to commence on November 14.

Bombers, Aces & No Mercy win in BTTA team table tennis

[Linked Image] Despite the looming threat of Hurricane Richard the 2nd annual Brothers Habet Team League Table Tennis Tournament 2010 continued as scheduled at the BES auditorium, the home of table tennis, today Saturday, October 23, 2010. The Bombers, Aces and Suga City teams posted wins in the 1st Division, while the Hurricanes, Phoenix and Cobras enjoyed wins in the 2nd Division

The Bombers' David Jones, Hector Lopez, Gabriel Guerrero and Alvin Amoa lead the 1st Division standings with 4 wins after they won 5-4 over the Rivero's Welders team of veteran Ernesto Rivero, Nicholas Martin, Sheran Murillo and Moses Babb.

Nelito Ayuso led the Aces team of Carlos Cui, Jorge Espat and David Huan to a 5-3 win against the Racqueteers team of Arturo "Tux" Vasquez, Peter Wong, Amir Vasquez and Robert Peyrefitte,

The No Mercy team from the Cayo District, Daniel Habet, Jamil Bedran and Orlando Habet, picked up their 1st win of the tournament, by spanking the Suga City Team, Mandy Gomez, Tyrone Tun, Amir Grajalez and Roy Rosado, 5-3.

The undefeated Phoenix Team of David Ho, Wen Te Chen, Ted Marin and Hollis Parham now lead the 2nd Division table with 5 wins after they won 5-3 over Mike Sanchez, Wilfredo Chang, Emilio Perera and Harold Young of the Garage Crew.

The Young Stars, Victor Quan, Harim Ochaeta, Raheem Pitzold and Gian Lisbey, drew the fangs of the Cobras, Ivan Locario, Christopher Neal, Charlton Roches and Eric Neal, for a 5-0 win, their 3rd win of the tournament.

The Hurricanes, Joseph, Samuel and Ravesh Sukhnandan and Jason Lin, picked up an easy win by default when Team "L" who were a no show for their scheduled match

The Assassins, Ricardo Bailey, Clifton Williams and Mark Babalola assassinated the Cobra Team of Ivan Locario, Christopher Neal, Charlton Roches and Eric Neal, 5-0.

Bombers, Racqueteers, Garage Crew, Phoenix enter BTTA table tennis playoffs

[Linked Image] The Bombers, Racqueteers, Garage Crew and Phoenix teams have entered the 2nd Annual Brothers Habet team table tennis playoffs in the competition held under the auspices of the Belize Table Tennis Association, at the home of table tennis, the Belize Elementary School auditorium on Saturday.
In the 1st Division, the Bombers enter the playoffs undefeated as the No.1 seed with 10pts from 5 wins. The Bombers won 5-1 over Team No mercy from Cayo, with David Jones winning 3-0 against Landy Habet and 3-0 against Jamil Bedran. His teammate Hector Lopez won 3-0 over Eduardo Perera and 3-0 against Landy Habet.

Bombers' Alvin Amoa also won 3-1 over Eduardo Perera. No Mercy's Jamil Bedran won 3-0 over Alvin Amoa. The Racqueteers squeaked past the Rivero's Welders 5-4 and are now into the
playoffs as the No. 3 seed with 9pts from 3 wins. Racqueteers captain Arturo "Tux" Vasquez won 3-2 over Sheran Murillo, 3-0 over veteran Ernesto Rivero and 3-1 against Nicholas Martin. Racqueteers' Peter Wong also won 3-1 against Sheran Murillo.
The Welders' Ernesto Rivero won 3-1 over Amir Vasquez and 3-0 against Peter Wong, and Nicholas Martin won 3-1 over Peter Wong and 3-0 against Amir Vasquez to tie the series at 4-4, before Amir Vasquez won the 9th game 3-1 over Sheran Murillo to give the Racqueteers the 5-4 win.
In the 2nd division, Team Phoenix: David Ho, Ted Marin and Hollis Parham won 5-3 over the Hurricanes to enter the playoffs undefeated as the No.1 seed with 12 pts from 6 wins. David Ho won 3-0 over Ravesh Sukhnandan, 3-0 over Samuel Sukhnandan and 3-0 over Joseph Sukhnandan; while Hollis Parham won 3-0 over Ravesh Sukhnandan and 3-0 over Samuel Sukhnanadan.

Team Hurricanes' Samuel Sukhnandan won 3-0 win over Ted Marin and Joseph Sukhnandan won 3-1 over Hollis Parham and 3-0 over Ted Marin. The Hurricanes are the No.2 seed entering the playoffs with 10pts from 4 wins. Team Garage Crew enters the playoffs as the No.3 seed with 10pts from 4 wins as they swatted the Assassins 5-0. Mike Sanchez won 3-0 over Mark Babalola and 3-2 against Ricardo Bailey; Emilio Perera won 3-1 over Harry Eusey and 3-0 over
Mark Babalola, and Harold Young won 3-1 over Ricardo Bailey. The Assassins enter the playoffs as the No. 4 seed. The playoffs and championship finals are scheduled for Sunday, November 14.

Team Aces wins 2nd Annual Bros. Habet team table tennis champs - Team Garage wins 2nd Division

[Linked Image] The Ace team won the 1st Division championship of the 2nd annual Brothers Habet team table tennis league while Team Garage won the 2nd division championship in the tournament organized by the Belize Table Tennis Association at the Belize Elementary School auditorium on Sunday, November 13.
The competition which began Sunday September 26 ran for7 weeks and came to an exciting end this past Sunday with 4 playoffs in both the 1st & 2nd divisions.
In the 1st Division, the teams that advanced to the final 4 faced off in a knock out competition to determine the champions of this division.
In the morning Semi-finals competition, Team ACE won over Racqueteers 5 to 2, and Bombers defeated Rivero's Welders 5 to 3. These results were the determining factor for the position that each team would take in the finals.
Playing for 1st and 2nd positions were the undefeated Bombers and ACE. With ACE coming in as the "defending champions", the stage was set for an exciting match. In the end, ACE maintained their composure and defeated Bombers 5 to 3 for the championship, and repeating as "back-to-back" champions.
Playing for the 3rd and 4th positions, team Rivero's Welders defeated Racqueteers: 5 to 1, taking home the 3rd position.
The final results of the 1st Division ended as follows: ACE - champs; 2nd - Bombers; 3rd - Rivero's Welders and 4th - Racqueteers. In the 2nd Division the morning's semi-finals saw team Garage winning over Hurricanes 5 to 2, and team Phoenix defeating Assassins 5 to 1.
In the afternoon finals, team Garage clinched the 2nd Division championship when they defeated Phoenix 5 to 3, and team Hurricanes defeated the Assassins 5 to 4 in a closely contested match to take the 3rd position.
The final results of the 2nd DIVISION ended as follows: Garage - champs, 2nd - Phoenix; 3rd - Hurricanes and 4th - Assassins.
Present at the closing ceremonies was Mr. Tony Habet, representing the sponsors, brothers HABET. Mr. Habet commented on their opportunity to get involved with the competition, and promised to continue as sponsor of this event next year. The association thanks the sponsor for their support and for their commitment to continue supporting the sport of table tennis in Belize.
Trophies were awarded to all 4 positions in both divisions, with a total of 32 trophies presented to the winners by Mr. Habet.
With the supporting spectators and the players on hand throughout the entire competition, the success of this year's Team League can easily be categorized as a major improvement over last year's event. The level of play, as well as the increase in teams competing this year shows the increased interest in the sport of table tennis in Belize.
The Belize Table Tennis Association thanks everyone who made this event possible, and looks forward to next year's event.
The next event on the BTTA calendar will be the national championships on November 27-28. Competitions will be held in men's open, female, doubles, mixed doubles and the under-15 cadet division.
