Hi All - I'm looking for some good mainland locations for nature trips, focused on wildlife. I love the river trip to Lamanai, and mornings/evenings in Tikal, but looking for some new trips, and they don't need to be Mayan ruins focused.

In addition, we've made numerous trips to Placencia, Belize Zoo, Chaa Creek, duPlooy's, Cave Tubing, Xunantunich, the Hummingbird Hwy. We're looking for a 'jungle adventure' with lots of bird viewing and hopefully howlers.

I agree with Katie and Elbert. we've been to Belize numberous times and stayed thruout the Country & if I had one place to choose from I would say Chan Chich. Numberous birds, spider & howler monkeys and 3 sighting of jaguars. Right down the road (40 miles) is La Milpa thru Programme for Belize. We always combine it with Chan Chich.

Would you consider horseback riding in the jungle? Banana Bank offers jungle rides or you can also do a boat ride on the Belize River to see wildlife.

Horses at Chan Chich is how i got started going there. Its where I learned.
