I have heard that the dress attire in AC is pretty casual, but I wanted to inquire on exactly how casual. Do people wear shorts to dinner? If so, do they wear them to restuarants such as Capricorn? My hubby and I will be there in mid April and wanted to know ahead of time what we should bring along. Any help you can give would be much appreciated. Thanks, Tami Newport Beach, CA

Tami, someone else will have to answer you as to what to wear at Capricorn, however, I can tell you that shorts are worn virtually everywhere else. I always take some sundresses and some light skirts with me but that is just my style. I love the feel of a crinkle skirt blowing around my legs out on the beach. Makes a girl feel all sexy.

When we made reservations at Capricorn we asked if they had a dress code and they stated "casual". Out of respect we wore a collered shirt and shorts for him and I wore a simple sundress. Everybody else there was dressed about the same. Not the place to show up in a bathing suit but certainly not black tie or evening gowns either.

You are not going to be ANYWHERE on the island that you will need sress attire. Shorts are accepted everywhere. Personally, I agree with Jane on the light casual dresses... you'll be thrilled that you wore them. A simple rule to follow while visiting Ambergris... the less packed the happier you will be. It only took me about 3 visits to figure this out. Now I could go practically without a suitcase!!

Ditto on the sundresses. I think they are cooler than shorts, and definately sexier. Not to mention, if you get a little sunburned, they are easier on the skin..... Heavy khaki shorts on a tender sunburn is not fun. Bring a sarong as well. If I didn't know what I was going to do for the day. I just wrapped one around my swimsuit. I could stop in for a beer or lunch, and then take a dip just about anywhere if I got hot. Worked great for me. Debbie

Ladies as you well know, after one or two days of tanning, we start to feel thinner, taller, younger and twice as beautiful, so take a couple of darling outfits, to carry out that great feeling, on vacation, it is special.
