Hi, I'm heading to AC in February and was wondering what people's experiences were with drinking the water? Is it safe or should we stick to bottled water? Thanks!

I believe the water is safe, but it taste funky. On my first trip on AC in the early 1980's, a San Pedrano told me the water taste odd, due to the grave yard ! I spit the water out fast. He just tried to freak me out mon. Con Mucho Gusto, Mel S.....

WHat I always do is buy bottled water for drinking straight if I'm thirsty. In mixed drinks or ice cubes you'll hardly notice a difference.

But, the water is very safe to drink.

I had no problem drinking the water, but at first I thought it tasted like seaweed. After a while you don't notice it.

I agree with denny. I do get a 5 gallon bottle delivered for drinking, but for cooking & ice cubes the water is perfectly safe, I've never gotten sick (like my experiences in mexico.)

My Dr. recommends taking 2 Pepto Bismol tablets a day (1 morning/1 night) when traveling outside of the states. Have always done this on cruises/Mexico/etc. and have never gotten sick from food/water/ice cubes.

I brush my teeth and make ice cubs with the water and have even used it to drink. However, I prefer the taste of the bottled water. Last year the local paper had an article on a bacterial count comparison of the local water to the bottled water. The differences were negligible.

We did not have any trouble with the water during our stay. We drank water from a cooler but ice cubes came from the tap(and we drank massive amounts of frozen drinks). However, I brought back a bottle of One Barrel Rum and drank it with a friend ONE night. I cannot begin to tell you how sick I was for a solid week. It tasted real good going down with a Diet Coke...

That Diet Coke is bad stuff. Just look at what it's done to Bill Thornton!
