Hey gang,

I was wondering how many businesses rent golf carts on the island? I have a group of 8 coming down on May 22 and we are staying north of the cut. Is it advisable to get golf carts or would paying for a water taxi each time be more economical?

You won't have trouble finding somewhere to rent a golf cart, should you decide to go that route. The prices range from $45 to $70 US per day, so it depends how much you want to spend. I never took the water taxi, but from what I've heard it is $10. There are also quite a few places that rent bikes for about $18 per day. Bikes is the way we went. We rented from Joe's Bikes. They worked well for us.

How far north are you staying? Having a cart is the way to go if you don,t mind the little extra expense. With a cart you can go anywhere you want, anytime you want. It allows you to explore the entire Island and soak it all up. We had a lot of fun offering locals a ride who were walking in our direction outside of town. You get lots of info from them and they really appreciate the lift on a hot day. The local kids love to hop on the back for even a few block ride. If you get one, make sure it's gas,not electric. They are much better and a full tank goes a long way.

Dear mlee88,
I've used the electric carts and they really aren't a problem, when they get low you just drop it off and get a new one. They are much quieter and don't stink up the place. ML
