From Belmopan...

The ITCZ activity is really starting up now, all over a large area to the south of Belize. At any time, we could find our self in the middle of one of those large very massive swell-ups, although not usually, until the last few days in May, but it could happen any time from now. There is already a strong ESE Caribbean wind blowing and the cloud is already building up, but that is not rain type clouds, and will reduce this afternoon.

Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), known by sailors as the doldrums, is the area encircling the earth near the equator where the northeast and southeast trade winds come together. In the seamen's speech the zone is referred to as the doldrums because of its erratic weather patterns with stagnant calms and violent thunderstorms. The ITCZ appears as a band of clouds, usually thunderstorms, that circle the globe near the equator.

Our weather today will be similar to the last few days, morning cloud build up, then reduce this afternoon. Notice how much smoke there is in the air.

Temperatures in Belmopan:
Today is probably going to be Similar, to yesterday : Tue, max. 34°C 93°F Last night min. 25°C 77°F ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler )

The ITCZ or Monsoon belt

You see this belt with cloud streaming from Africa, moving from the east, but when it moves northwards, that is widens like in our area, then its out-poring goes up and eastwards, as you see that area in the Pacific, going up towards Mexico, where it often curled down towards Belize.
