Yes, I am so upset. I have know Richard for years, saw
him almost every day at Channel Five, he is one of the
few people in this country who followed up the court
cases after the arrests, let people know when their
was an acquittal or an appeal and details of the
testimony. Such a vital service for the public and
media houses who do not have the personnel to spare to
sit for hours, days, even months following a case.
He was a very convivial guy, full of anecdotes about
the court system and cases and he had excellent files,
could look up any of the names of the arrested and
tell you their whole history. I presume he kept those
all somewhere safe.
We just saw him a couple of days ago in front of the
Water Taxi Terminal and he
told me he was working on his next piece for us. He
was one of our first contributors and so supportive of
the paper. I feel really sad right now...
