Our teeth are thought to be one of our charms. So taking care of them is what dentists advise, especially in this, International Dental Health Week. Sr. Dental Surgeon, Dr. Rafael Samos, told Love News that while we tend to consume a wide variety of food and beverages, trends over the past two decades have shown that Belizeans are applying that advice to their daily lives.

"In the past people used to come for extraction but now they are seeing more ways of saving your tooth. I would say the amount of extractions haven't increased as much but we have increased the educational level of our programs, we do have more coverage and education."

In Belize, people can still access basic dental examinations, cleaning and extractions for a fee of a dollar. In Belize City, that service is available at the Central Health Region's Office on Princess Margaret Drive next to the Social Security building. Persons are advised, however, to call first to secure a date a time. That number is 223 1433.
