This is a great story. We haven't suffered any of the particular misfortunes that are being told here, knock on wood. Still, the outcomes are the kind of thing we've come to assume are "normal" for Belize, and San Pedro in particular.

Since the early moments of our first visit, in 2008, we've always felt there is nowhere else on Earth that could possibly have more friendly, likable people. It's not as if we're naive -- we know that the level unsavory events has increased since then, but our attitude has not changed.

We love the people we meet in Belize, and they, more than all the other wonderful things we visit for, are really the most important reason we keep coming back! Thanks for sharing this, Marty.
