The San Pedro Sun can confirm that the Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport is currently closed to air traffic. This follows several calls from employees of the Civil Aviation Authority, specifically Air Control staff who have all called in sick. So far two international flights destined for Belize have been diverted to El Salvador today. The San Pedro Sun will continue to report status updates as they unfold.

UPDATE:
In a brief press meeting the CEO of Civil Aviation Mr. Garbutt indicated that air traffic controllers from neighboring countries will be brought in to man the command tower. The first of 15 international flights is expected to land at 11:30AM.
