i maked pasta a couple of times - once incorporating the leftovers from BC's Sunday BBQ YUM if i do say so myself, tuna sandwiches for lunch treats, Kitchen was also handy for whipping up those snacks for the several in room happy hours w/ new friends - quesedillas, olives, salami & cheese - enough to tide us over til the late dinners. All in all I found the kitchen quite handy

I myself like to walk also but I found walking the streets a little dangerous because of the crazy drivers. When I tried walking on the beach I couldn't get by Crazy Canucks.

LC - I like your thinking about the kitchen on vacation, a lot of people don't get it. It's nice to be able to do your on thing and relax in your room and visit. After a while barstools are uncomfortable - no matter how much you drink
Everyone is correct about Banana Beach - very comfortable, nice beach, great food, fantastic people and no oven. I loved it there and hope to go back soon.
I wish "Belikin" Jimmy and I could be there when you are having fun with Gay and David! waaaaaa!

Wow - sounds like Banana Beach is well loved! Can't get a much better recomendation than that. Question about one other place - does anyone know anything about Coral Bay Villas? Thanks for all of your awesome input!

I don't think you can go wrong with Banana beach, but you should consider Belizean Shores as well. Fully equiped kitchens and the best pool on the island. Depends on what you want to be close to (or not so close to).

Tag, keep in mind that taxis run all the time and it's i think 5 dollars u.s. to go anywhere on the south island and that is per cab so you can't beat that, and just down the beach from banana beach is water sport items for rent and i have to add that i too think the restaurant service, staff, and accomodations are pretty hard to top at banana beach!!

Unless things have changed in the last few months, your statement about the $5 is incorrect. We heard from many of our guests that taxi's quoted them $40/BZ from town to Caribe Island. That is less than 3 miles.
So yes, they do run all the time, but make sure you ask them how much, and make sure they mean for the entire group. (I had one very upset taxi driver tell me that it was $10US per person -- with 5 other people-- to Caribe Island.)
PS: I will certainly put in my kudos to ElDivino at Banana Beach-- breakfast there is WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey guys - is that true re: the taxi rates? last September it was $5US from Banana Beach into town or anyplace else (Casa Picasso, Papi's - you know all the great dinner spots!) The rates were per taxi, not per person. We always verified before getting in, but were never quoted anything other than $10 BZ. have prices gone up that much in a year?
