Corona Steve, you have AMAZING power. Pushing for and bringing up a bridge constantly and it gets built!!! I don't know how you did it, but I need a new jump plane...a PAC 750xl will do. Please start posting...and I'd like it before next year's (2007) event! THANKS! cool

Not too long ago where the housing you now see to your left as you are being ferried across the river going north, was a swamp/lake. There were two gators living in this water whom we endearingly named Sweezel and Dweezel. The water was drained and housing built for the locals. This over-burdened the ferry. By the way---for all of those romanticizing about the ferry and so sorry for it demise---ever look at the palms of the hands of the pullers???
I forgot how many pairs of gloves we would give them to help them with this horrific job!! Hey, how many of you thought to tip them??--Just food for thought. frown

?????????? Were they enslaved and made to pull the ferry? No one is sitting here doing my nails feeling sorry for me having to type on this keyboard all day ????????

They didn't get paid to pull the ferry?

S&S, I guess I'm a little like you--each party involved (other than my friend who just sat there quietly) could have, in retrospect, done things a little differently. I really wasn't mentioning it to point fingers, and as you can see, everyone or no one is to blame. The woman didn't have to be so blunt to the folks, and the people didn't have to push by my friend (although he really wasn't upset). When I was in high school, I worked second-shift at a textile mill, and I'd come in at 4:00 to work. The first shift people got off right as I was coming in, and God forbid if you get in their way as they tore out the door--they'd run you over rather than spend another minute there. I guess everybody was ready for the lunch or siesta.

Reaper

You are approaching this wrong. You need to order and pay for the plane now. CS will join in about a week before it comes and take credit.

Corona Steve had Zero to do with building of the bridge and I do NOT intend this to be negative on his behalf. It was in the works for years.

Malibu-- You're typing on a friggin' keyboard---these guys pull that rope because it is ALL they could find for work!! NO food stamps, welfare, govt. housing for these people, etc. etc.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.

Sigh.

A fish and a bird can fall in love, but where will they build their nest?

Malibu--you are the perfect example of the ugly American right now and I think you are better than that so pull yourself together and bring out the good person within.
