Whoa, saw a show on fishing for Tarpon last night. Big fish. Wow. I might skip a day of diving and try for one of these. Is Feb a good time for any type of fishing in A/C?

as a life long fly fisherman i can tell you the best time for tarpon in belize is later part of may , june and july. This is when the big tarpon come off the deep reefs and head for the flats. Bone fish are on the flats most days along with a sprinkling of permit.

Hi, best time for big tarpon will be June till Mid-September. For my opinion the best guide for tarpon fishing is Nesto Gomez.

So, just a day of Reef fishing for me. Trolling for conchs is a hoot anyhow! That way I can come back in Summer.

HEY: Don't let this May to August stuff turn you off. It's absolutely true that the larger tarpon are migrating through during those months. However there are plenty of 15# to 50# resident fish around all year. Frankly, I'd rather catch a bunch of smaller fish, than get the snot beat out of me by 90# fish. Don't get me wrong, I WANT the 90#, but I'm no Andy Mill and can't wup that size in 20 min. A question for you: are you thinking flyrod? If so, and if this is a first for you, you really should be starting on the "smaller" guys.

I'm a hardcore trout fly fishermen. There is nothing else. I have done a little light spin fishing also but don't tell no one.

But fly fishing for tarpon, permit and bones just might almost cause a guy to give up diving.
